New Moon, New Era

Lying in bed late at night, listening to the coyotes sing to each other and, later, the owls’ call and response, it occurred to me what a spectacular privilege it is to be alive at this time. What a mind-bending gift to know that each one of us has a role to play, a precious contribution to make at this precise moment. This is it. It’s happening - what Joanna Macy calls the Great Turning. It’s already underway. All the ancient prophesies agree: this is the beginning of a new era, at last. We are co-authors writing the first chapter of a story to last a thousand years.
Astrologically, we are in the Saturn return of the natal chart for the U.S. It’s a potent time, urging us to rethink our relationship to power, to connection and vulnerability – and to devote ourselves to a world resplendent and restored. We can’t know the answers, or get a lock on ‘how’, and that’s important, too. It’s enough to recognize that all of us alive today are here to help midwife the human journey to wholeness. This is about taking responsibility for the way we show up. The headlines are screaming. Folks are in despair. It is up to us to hold an elevated vision of what is possible.
We need leaders who say, War is off the table: violence is no longer an option. Everything is at stake. Love is a choice. Compassion is a portal. We were made for this moment. We can do this. Our leaders aren’t saying this yet, so it’s up to us to say it. To embody it. Know it. Live it. Be it.
